Witch's Fate by Linsey Hall my review

Review Courtesy of April Hollingworth

I adore this series, I love the characters and the atmosphere of the books. I have slightly mixed feelings about this book, though I loved it, I found myself wanting to shake Sofia, the main female character, and tell her to get over it. Blimey that girl can hold a grudge. Granted she has a really good reason, but what can I say, I like Malcolm. So here's me feeling caught between wanting to shake her and agree with her, and then you have Malcolm, warlock extraordinaire, sexy to boot and totally drool worthy. Hence mixed emotions. You have wonderful fight scenes, really nasty foes and brilliant allies, the kind you want in real life. The allies not the foes. All in all, I am desperate for the next book in this amazing series. Each book can be read as a standalone, but you do meet the characters in other books, also they are exceptionally brilliant books so I advise reading them all.

Opening Scene:

Prologue:

Warlock's Apprenticeship, Corrier's Home Norway 1606 AD "Oh my gods, you must be jesting." Sofia Viera gripped the armrest of the chair as her heart plummeted into her stomach.

The Review:

Powerful witch Sofia Viera has loved warlock-werewolf half-blood Malcolm Brent, ever since first meeting him when they trained to become warlocks together. When Malcolm chose power over her and cast her aside, she vowed to forget him, and for four hundred years, it worked. Until he forces her to return to him... Despite the fact that fate is prophesied to tear them apart, Malcolm is determined to have Sofia back in his life. He want's everything from her, her mind, body, soul and especially her love. The past four hundred years has taught him, that power isn't everything but Sofia is. Stealing a dagger that she desperately needs in an attempt to get her to come to him, Malcolm unwittingly unleashes a force of evil that will destroy everything and one she loves. He'll help her save her village... for a price.

Notable Scene:

"This is what you came here for?" His voice was as deep and rich as the darkest chocolate. No sweetness. Just a hint of that bitterness that followed a bite of rich substance. Fear suddenly shivered down her spine. She was a powerful Bruxa-powerful enough that she has no need for modesty-but she was also a smart one. And she was right to be afraid. This wasn't the Malcolm she remembered. Of course it wasn't. He was now one of the most powerful beings in all the Mythean world. A warlock. Destruction and power personified. All bought by becoming an Oath Breaker and throwing her away. The reminder sent anger through her again. A reminder of what she was fighting for. What she'd always been fighting for. Her village. And for the first time since her line had taken up the role of Protector, they were at risk. Because of this man. "Yeah, that's what I came here for." Her voice could have cut stone. "Now give it back."
