Journey to the UnderWorld by Solera Winters my review
Review Courtesy of April Hollingworth
The story has a unique twist. Set in modern times. Hades has found a way to be once more worshipped as the God he is. Creating a club in the hot spot of Las Vegas, he has people flocking to him every night, wanting to worship at his feet and do his every bidding.
As for Persephone she is under the domineering pressure of her mother’s thumb. Unknowing she is not the mortal woman Kory Granger, but the Goddess of Spring herself. She constantly wants to please her mother for the sake of peace, yet tries to take control of her own dreams and desires.
I love the Greek Gods and Goddesses. There fire and passion. Hades has always been one of my favorites. This is all there; I enjoyed the modern day twist. Yet, I personally couldn’t connect with it.
Opening Scene:
“Look at Hades, so cocky over there. I swear he hasn’t a care in the world.”
The Review:
Kory Granger is the Goddess of Spring, a fact she’s completely unaware of.
Her Mother Demeter is determined to keep her oblivious and under her thumb. Growing plants in her nursery, after all with her daughter working for her, she can keep an eye on her and have beautiful flowers grow.
Kory only wants to sing. She loves nature but singing is her passion. When a job offer comes up at the hit club The UnderWorld, she can’t wait to audition. Even though she knows her mother will be furious as she can’t stand Deven Thanos.
Devon Thanos lives in shadows. He’s the owner of Las Vegas hot spot, The UnderWorld. He spends his nights performing sex shows for an ultra-exclusive audience. He is also Hades, God of the UnderWorld. After a volatile and frustrating history with the Earth Goddess Demeter, he sets plans in motion to get even with her through her precious daughter.
Things take a turn for the unexpected when he gets shot with a love arrow by the God Eros.
Devon hires Kory to sing as the opening act for his vanilla side of his business. Choosing to hide the darker side of the club, from the little Goddess, who’s captured his attention and heart.
Kory is torn between her overprotective mother and her feelings for her sexy boss. Her life becomes a web of lies and deceptions.
Will her sunlight be able to shine through the shadows, and will her passion for the God of the UnderWorld be enough to overcome there obstacles?
Notable Scene:
Beware of anyone who is too friendly. Trust no men. They have nothing to offer you.
With an effort, she closed off her mother’s voice. “Thank you, Mr. Thanos.” She perched on the edge of the chair, relieved to be off of her shaking legs.
“You must call me Devon. Relax. Tell me, how long have you been singing?” His voice carried a slight accent and his expression remained closed.
“Only for the past year, well, that’s not quite true.” She shook her head. “I’ve been singing my whole life, but last year I started voice lessons. My teacher says I’ve made progress.”
“Oh?” Again a secret smirk hovered on his full lips. “What kind of music do you prefer?”
“My tastes are eclectic.” She pressed her shoulders against the high backed chair. “I like anything from classics, to show tunes to the top forty. What genre does The UnderWorld, prefer?”
