Locked in Stone by Tory Michaels my review
Review Courtesy of April Hollingworth
This is the first book in the Hearts of Stone series. It can be read as a standalone, but to be honest you will want to know what happens next.
Rose is a wonderful character, she’s strong and determined. Granted she doesn’t always listen, but she knows and admits when she’s wrong.
Cal, is gorgeous, sweet, and wonderful. He’s also riddled with guilt, which he mainly doesn’t let interfere with his work.
Throw in some other wonderful characters, and some that you wouldn’t want to meet ever, and you have a pretty fabulous book. Filled with passion and danger, I really enjoyed this book.
The Review:
Rose Johnson’s life changes when her adoptive mother is murdered. Realizing she’s next, and as the last gargoyle in the world, she’s the only thing standing between this world and the Otherworld. Knowing she needs to keep her existence a continued secret, she needs to find the stone that holds her adoptive mother’s soul. This means enlisting the help of her enemies. The Sentinels.
Sentinel Cal Levesque, has never forgiven himself for failing Rose’s family years ago. Finding Rose alive, is a shock enough, never minding the fact the stunningly beautiful gargoyle attacks him on sight. Striking an uneasy alliance, their unexpected attraction confuses both of them. When Cal finds information about who really betrayed Rose’s family, he quickly realizes her life is in greater danger than he first realized. He must protect her at all costs. Failing her once again is unacceptable. Now if only he can prevent himself from falling in love, they might have a chance of survival.
