Find Me by Shelley K. Wall my review
Review Courtesy of April Hollingworth
The story is the second book in the series but is parallel to the first book. Each book can be read separately. I found this book a little slow to get started but the ending was beautiful. The story is lovely though, with a little mystery and sassy characters to keep it going. I enjoyed the interactions between Amanda and Jackson, they were fabulous characters.
Opening Scene:
Amanda Gillespie wasn’t about to let the bile in her stomach keep her from showing up at the damn outdoor adventure club meeting.
The Review:
Amanda Gillespie never expected to see Jackson Holstenar ever again. In law school he was the guy all girls wanted, including her. But they never got past the friend zone, and being asked “to leave” his family law firm where they worked, ended their friendship. Now Amanda has a great legal career and has met the perfect guy. Only problem is, he’s Jackson’s best friend.
Jackson’s used to getting what he wants, and he wants Amanda and answers. Unwilling to betray his friend, even though the chemistry between him and Amanda is crazy, Jackson realizes that maybe he can’t have her but he can finally get his answers to why she left. While at the same time helping her be the perfect girl for his friend, Carter.
When case turns up that Amanda used to work on in the firm, Jackson turns to Amanda for help as nothing appears to add up. The two set out to unravel the secrets in the confusing contract, and maybe find their true happiness along the way.
Notable Scene:
Amanda stomped a foot and reached for the bag. “Knock it off. Give me my purse.”
Jackson lifted it higher. “Make me.”
“Make you? What are we, ten? This isn’t the playground, Jax, and I’m not the little cheerleader you want to coax out of her pleated skirt. I don’t play kiddie games anymore. Give. Me. My. Purse.” He had always liked to tease. It drove her crazy.
The whoosh of his cologne enveloped her as he stepped forward, his chest almost touching hers. Oh God. Was he really taunting her? Daring her to wrestle him to the ground just to get her bag? Well, fine. Two could play that game. Only she could play a lot dirtier now. I’ll show you exactly what you missed when you sent me packing-you and your big-shot family.
Amanda twisted his shirt between her fingers and yanked. Thud. Their chests melded and she put her mouth against his and gave him a kiss. The kiss-to-end-all-games. He couldn’t escape the death-grip on his shirt so she adjusted her mouth and flitted her tongue across the crease of his. That’ll teach you to mess with me.
Clink. Her purse hit the floor of the elevator as Jackson raised his hands and slid them around her neck. Amanda tried to back up but he palmed the sides of her head and held firm. His breath toasted her cheeks as he spoke, “Okay, I won’t play kiddie games either. Just remember you started it.”
