Once Perfect by Cecy Robson my review

Review Courtesy of April Hollingworth

Once Perfect is the first book in the Shattered Past series. It had me hurting myself laughing, falling in love and breaking my heart. I couldn’t put it down once I started reading it. It is raw, sexy as hell, breathtakingly honest and so beautiful. This is one of those books you will read and fall in love each and every time you re-read it. One to keep, I can’t wait for the next book in this stunning series. Mateo is fierce, dangerous, wonderful, caring, gentle and loving. Evelyn is kind, sweet, determined and broken in more ways than even she can imagine. Together they are perfect. Together they learn to love and live once more. But can a broken past that threatens their future, rip them apart or will they face their nightmares and find the future they both deserve?

The Review:

Evelyn’s future was once perfect. Her life was mapped out for her, until her wealthy father was caught in an embezzlement scandal and took his own life. Her friends and boyfriend left her once the scandal broke and suddenly she finds herself alone, struggling to pay her college tuition and bills. Taking a job as a waitress at the ultra-hip nightclub Excess, a place she used to have more in common with the patrons than the staff, she finds herself picking up the pieces of her shattered past. What surprises her the most is finding herself attracted to the sexy but dangerous bouncer Mateo. Mateo Tres Santos is a very sexy six-foot-four bouncer and underground MMA fighter. His life has never been easy. He’s ex-army who wound up in prison for assaulting the man how harmed his little sister. Once again his protective instincts are rising but this time for petite blond waitress Evelyn Preston. When he finds her having a panic attack at the club he comes to her rescue, an act that surprises her and opens her eyes to the man he is. And when Mateo is wounded shielding her from a brawl, Evelyn returns the favor and comes to his rescue. Both have troubled pasts. Evelyn’s haunts her in the dark shadows of her mind, while Teo’s is living and breathing bonding them together in ways they never imagined. As their attraction intensifies, Mateo is determined to find out what nightmares are lurking in Evelyn’s past, even if it means facing his own to save her.
